Johann Adolph Scheibe, XVIII-wieczny teoretyk i kompozytor, wśród narodowych stylów europejskich wymieniał styl polski jako czwarty – obok włoskiego, francuskiego i niemieckiego, wskazując tym samym na jego wysoką rangę. W sposób szczególny propagowany przez Georga Friedricha Telemanna, znajduje on odzwierciedlenie także w dziełach największych mistrzów baroku – Johanna Sebastiana Bacha i Georga Friedricha Haendla.  

W twórczości Johanna Sebastiana Bacha rytm poloneza stanowi symbol władzy – zarówno tej ziemskiej, jak i boskiej. Stąd też arie i ansamble z kantat kościelnych, w których sławiona jest moc Najwyższego, nieraz utrzymane są w charakterze polskiego tańca. Jednym z doskonalszych tego przykładów jest uroczysty chór Ehre sei dir, Gott, gesungen ze słynnego Weihnachts-Oratorium, który zabrzmi w finale koncertu. 

Również Georg Friedrich Haendel dostrzegał potencjał muzycznego idiomu rodem z Rzeczypospolitej, o czym świadczy włączenie wyrafinowanego poloneza jako czwartej części Concerto grosso op. 6 nr 3 (HWV 321). Charakterystyczną rytmikę i trójdzielne metrum polskiego tańca Haendel wykorzystuje także w swoich operach, w różnorodnych kontekstach. W arii Oronta Ma non s’aspetti z II aktu Floridante cechy te podkreślają wzburzenie, w Ariodante znajdujemy je w ustępie wyrażającym rozpacz (Scherza infida), zaś w Partenope pobrzmiewają w miłosnym wyznaniu (Voglio amare insin ch’io moro).

Johann Adolph Scheibe, an 18th-century theorist and composer, mentioned the Polish style as the fourth among the national European styles - alongside Italian, French and German, thus pointing to its high rank. In a special way promoted by Georg Friedrich Telemann, it is also reflected in the works of the greatest masters of the Baroque - Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Handel. 

In Johann Sebastian Bach's work, the rhythm of the polonaise is a symbol of power - both earthly and divine. Hence, arias and ensembles from church cantatas, in which the power of the Most High are celebrated, are often maintained in the nature of Polish dance. One of the most perfect examples of this is the solemn Ehre sei dir, Gott, gesungen choir from the famous Weihnachts-Oratorio , which will be heard at the end of the concert. 

Georg Friedrich Handel also saw the potential of a musical idiom straight from the Commonwealth, as evidenced by the combination of a refined polonaise as the fourth movement of the Concerto grosso, Op. 6 No.3 (HWV 321). Haendel also uses the characteristic rhythm and triple meter of Polish dance in his operas, in various contexts. In the aria of Oronta Ma non s'aspetti from Act II of Floridante , these features emphasize agitation, in  Ariodante we find them in the passage expressing despair ( Scherza infida ), and in the  Partenope they resound in a love confession ( Voglio amare insin ch'io moro ).
