Suite et fin des célébrations du 70e anniversaire de Philippe Manoury ! Sous la direction de François-Xavier Roth, l’EIC donne la création de ses Grammaires du sonore, commande de l’Ensemble, composée sur mesure pour ses solistes.

Throughout his career, Philippe Manoury has forged a unique relationship with the Ensemble intercontemporain: his Number 5 was on the program of the Ensemble's first concert in 1976! Since then, his Fragments for a portrait , inspired by the working methods of the painter Francis Bacon, have been composed with the identity of each soloist in mind. Concerto for ensemble, Grammars of Sound is an opportunity to renew this friendship: each soloist of the EIC has his quarter of an hour of glory there, like a concerto grosso whose concertino changes from fragment to fragment. As for the Vier Lieder , they are taken from his opera Kein Licht, created in 2017, based on a text by Elfriede Jelinek, in response to the Fukushima nuclear disaster.
