The Brașov Opera presents on Saturday, May 6, 2017, at 6.30 pm, in the Opera Hall , the show with the opera “Rigoletto” by Giuseppe Verdi, on a libretto by Francesco Maria Piave, based on the melodrama “Le roi s'amuse” by Victor Hugo . The premiere of the play took place on March 11, 1851, at the "La Fenice" Theater in Venice, enjoying an extraordinary success right from the first performance. The famous aria "La donna è mobile" was sung four times that evening, at the request of the public!
"Rigoletto", along with "Il Trovatore" and "Traviata", is part of a trilogy that Verdi composed in an extremely short period - two years (1851 - 1853) - if we think about the monumentalism of these works. Verdi's music, full of pure romance, is of a special refinement, and the composer managed to fully empathize with the characters he created.
The work takes place in Mantua (Italy) in the 16th century. "Rigoletto is centered around a masked, atrocious and tragic character. The jester of the Duke of Mantua, Rigoletto, helps his effeminate master to humiliate his subjects by seducing their wives. The jester who laughs at the misfortunes of those around him finally becomes the victim of unscrupulous plots ", explains the conductor Tiberiu Soare in his volume" Why do we go to the Opera? ", The one who will be at the desk of the Brașov Opera Orchestra on Saturday night. "The curse is the lait-motive, both from the point of view of the libretto and from the thematic, musical point of view, with it the work begins and ends", reveals the master.
