Irish Songmakers present a programme entitled “Romantics”, which celebrates the musical worlds of composers of the romantic era: Edvard Grieg, Jean Sibelius, Richard Wagner, Richard Strauss and Giacomo Puccini.
Irish soprano Amy Ní Fhearraigh and pianist Niall Kinsella perform beloved songs including ‘Morgen’ and ‘Allerseelen’ (Richard Strauss), and Wagner’s sublime Wesendonk-Lieder. To mark the centenary of the birth of legandary soprano Maria Callas, they include some of her greatest opera arias by Puccini and Bellini.
Irish soprano Amy Ní Fhearraigh garnered unanimous rave reviews for her recent performance in Irish National Opera’s Olivier nominated production Least Like the Other at the Lindbury Theatre, Royal Opera House Covent Garden, with The Stage remarking that “her performance is a tour de force” and Arts Desk commenting “how impressive […] to see so totally finessed a performance from a young rising star”. Amy has also performed numerous leading roles for INO, including Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Elisabetta (Maria Stuarda) and Jemmy (William Tell), to name a few, and is a regular concert performer in Ireland and abroad.
Pianist Niall Kinsella has fast established himself as one of Ireland’s most exciting and sought-after accompanists and art-song specialists. He has been described as “a meticulous collaborator” (BBC Music Magazine) and “a first-class calling card as a knowledgeable and profound song accompanist” (Merker-Austria). He has performed extensively across Europe, in venues such as Wiener Musikverein, Wiener Konzerthaus, Mozarthaus Wien, The Liszt Academy, Budapest, St Martin-in-the-Fields, London, and National Concert Hall, Dublin. He has recorded CDs for international labels Champs Hill Records (UK), and Gramola Vienna (Austria).
