For the cycle "Dialogues around the Opera", the Teatro Comunale di Bologna presents the production of "Simon Boccanegra" by Giuseppe Verdi, staged in April 2018, talking about the relationship between power, sense of the state and private life in the Opera Verdi as well as in contemporary society, with the musical contributions of the students of the Scuola dell'Opera. In 1880 Giulio Ricordi invited Verdi to take up the work Simon Boccanegra again in his hand to put it back on stage at the Teatro alla Scala the following year, almost twenty years after the fiasco of the first version - largely attributed to a libretto that was not completely successful - whose revision is entrusted to Arrigo Boito. Love, ambition and the thirst for revenge dominate all the characters except Simone, Doge-corsair over whom the dark and melancholy hue that characterizes this political and family drama is clouded.
