Personnage bien connu des légendes de la Perse ancienne, Sindbad le marin a inspiré au compositeur britannique Howard Moody un opéra absolument contemporain. 

Sindbad le marin rentre chez lui, à Bagdad, après un long voyage, et découvre sa ville complètement bombardée. Devant tous ces enfants orphelins qui hantent les rues, c’est un voyage d’un genre nouveau qu’il doit désormais entreprendre avec eux, pour tenter de leur trouver un avenir meilleur où la paix aura raison des différends et des guerres. 

Mis en scène par un habitué des lieux, Benoît Bénichou, et dirigé par le compositeur Howard Moody en personne, cet ouvrage participatif sera l’occasion pour les jeunes artistes lyriques du CFA ainsi que les élèves des écoles de la ville de Nice de faire leurs premiers pas sur la scène de l’Opéra. Une expérience doublement citoyenne, fédératrice et humaine, où le sens du travail collectif vient rejoindre le propos de l’œuvre  : la guerre peut frapper partout et à tout moment. Heureusement, la solidarité et l’entraide ne doivent pas rester de vains mots…

A well-known character from the legends of ancient Persia, Sindbad the Sailor inspired the British composer Howard Moody to write an absolutely contemporary opera. 

Sindbad the sailor returns home to Baghdad after a long journey and discovers his city completely bombed. Faced with all these orphaned children who haunt the streets, it is a journey of a new kind that he must now undertake with them, to try to find them a better future where peace will overcome disputes and wars. 

Directed by a regular visitor, Benoît Bénichou, and directed by the composer Howard Moody himself, this participatory work will be an opportunity for young lyrical artists from the CFA as well as students from schools in the city of Nice to make their first steps on the Opera stage. A doubly civic, unifying and human experience, where the meaning of collective work joins the purpose of the work: war can strike anywhere and at any time. Fortunately, solidarity and mutual aid should not remain empty words...
