Composed in a furious burst of inspiration, the Seventh is Mahler at his most mysterious—some may even say peculiar. (Musicologist Deryck Cooke famously called it the “mad, mad, mad, mad symphony”). Indulgent, elusive, and delightfully raw, the Seventh is a problem child for some conductors, but not Noseda.
