Having been deprived of something as vital as the physical presence of our audiences, the Athens State Orchestra is very much looking ahead to the opening concert of its new season, which is set to be an emotional event. Our artistic director, Lukas Karytinos, will be conducting two of the greatest symphonic masterpieces of Romanticism, Mahler's Songs on the death of children and Brahms's monumental First Symphony, as well as honouring the work of one of his predecessors, the renowned composer Yannis Ioannidis, with a performance of his Metaplasis.

Έχοντας στερηθεί τόσο πολύ τη ζωτικής σημασίας φυσική επαφή με το κοινό, η Κρατική Ορχήστρα Αθηνών ατενίζει την εναρκτήρια συναυλία της νέας καλλιτεχνικής περιόδου με ιδιαίτερη συγκίνηση. Ο καλλιτεχνικός της διευθυντής, Λουκάς Καρυτινός, διευθύνει δύο μέγιστα συμφωνικά αριστουργήματα του Ρομαντισμού, τα Τραγούδια για τα νεκρά παιδιά του Μάλερ και τη μεγαλειώδη Πρώτη Συμφωνία του Μπραμς, ενώ παράλληλα τιμά το έργο ενός εκ των προκατόχων του, του καταξιωμένου συνθέτη Γιάννη Ιωαννίδη, ερμηνεύοντας το έργο του Μεταπλάσεις.
