Part five of Mahler's "Lied von der Erde" strikes a burlesque tone: "Der Trunkene im Frühling" ("The Drunkard in Spring") prefers to be intoxicated and to turn his back on the promises of spring. It's a showpiece for Daniel Behle. The Symphoniker Hamburg's project frames it perfectly with Mussorgsky's "Trepak" from the "Songs and Dances of Death" with Michael Volle, preceded by Stravinsky's wind octet, and comes to a close with music written by the conductor Sylvain Cambreling: A tribute to Mahler.
