The outstanding Civil Service Choir has been performing in St John’s Smith Square for over ten years and has delighted audiences every time. They return with two charming, much-loved short mass settings by Schubert and Haydn. Schubert’s Mass No. 2 in G major was composed in 1815, in less than a week, and is the best known of his short mass settings. Written in 1775, Haydn’s Missa Brevis takes its nickname, the ‘Little Organ Mass’, from the organ solo in the Benedictus.
