Thirteen-year-old Anne Frank, a Jewish little girl hiding in front of the German occupiers in Amsterdam, began keeping a diary on June 1, 1942. His plan was to write a book about the war based on his notes, painting a faithful picture of the years of German occupation in the Netherlands. The book was never completed, and Anne Frank lost her life in hell in the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp shortly before her sixteenth birthday. His diary is an eternal, poignant read for anyone who wants to better understand what happened to hiding families during Hitler’s emergency. The spectators of the Budapest Operetta Theater can now get to know the basic work, which has undergone several types of processing, in the one-act opera version of Grigori Frid. In the second half of the two-part evening, you can watch the play The Sculptor. This is a one-act dance performance by László Dubrovay, a worthy artist awarded the title of Artist of the Nation, a Kossuth Prize winner and a Ferenc Erkel Prize winner, inspired by the writing of József Gáli. The director-choreographer of the play is Balázs Vincze, who is a ballet artist, choreographer of the Gyula Harangozó, Zoltán Imre and László Seregi, and artistic director of the Hungarian Golden Cross of Merit at the Pécs Ballet. Although it is also colored by classical elements, we can talk about modern ballet, it will be a truly “modern” performance. The protagonist of the story is the Sculptor, who cannot recover from his creative crisis - he would look for a new style, new challenges, but is unable to go beyond the old self.
