Emotional, passionate but also oppressive music is the focus of the opening concert of the 2015/16 season: Igor Stravinski's music for L'histoire du soldat is not essentially connected to the text, but can also exist without it. The jazz elements contained therein have enormous power and, especially in the instrumental parts, Stravinsky offers the audience a range of musical expectations, which he largely leaves unfulfilled. On the other hand, Grigori Frid's two-part monooper The Diary of Anne Frank, which is based almost literally on the famous diary, is very concrete. 21 short pictures describe Anne Frank's life over the period of the diary and form a musical-lyric narrative.
