The Mouse, Frog, Cockerel and Hedgehog choose a locomotive abandoned in the forest as their home. But the Wolf liked their cozy corner. He persuades Lisa and the Bear to break the fence, break into the house and taste fresh cockerel. The first attempt to capture the house was unsuccessful, and the beaten Wolf and Bear drop out of the battle. However, the cunning Fox does not give up. On a dark night, she sneaks up to the house, guarded by the Cockerel, and lulls his vigilance with flattering praises: "... A bear took up arms against you, but you managed to defeat him!" Fox and Fox grab the defenseless Rooster. The Hedgehog rushes to his rescue. In a fair fight, he wins and returns the rumpled Rooster to the house. The wolf makes the last attempt to seize the house by sawing the fence, but all the animals and insects of the fairy forest come to the defense of the house. The opera ends with a general reconciliation.
