On New Year's Eve, the capricious Queen promises a basket of gold to the one who brings a bouquet of snowdrops to her palace. The money-hungry Stepmother and Daughter send the Stepdaughter to the winter forest, where the girl meets twelve brothers-months. For one hour, January gives way to nature in the possession of his brother April - the snowdrifts part, and spring flowers bloom in the clearing.

It is impossible to imagine the winter holidays without one of Marshak's most "New Year's" tales. For more than half a century, children of different generations have been celebrating the New Year in good company for twelve months. Thanks to the St. Petersburg composer Sergei Banevich (the author of another musical fairy tale for children - "The Stories of Kai and Gerda" based on Andersen's "The Snow Queen") the cheerful song "Burn, burn clearly so that it does not go out" reminds us that the fire of love, kindness and friendship will always help overcome any difficulties.

Опера написана в 2006 году, в данной сценической версии поставлена в Перми в 2008-м. Возобновление 2013 года.

Под Новый год капризная Королева обещает корзину золота тому, кто принесет ей во дворец букет подснежников. Жадные до денег Мачеха и Дочка посылают Падчерицу в зимний лес, где девушка встречает двенадцать братьев-месяцев. На один час Январь уступает природу во владение брату Апрелю — сугробы расступаются, и на поляне расцветают весенние цветы.

Невозможно представить себе зимние праздники без одной из самых «новогодних» сказок Маршака. Вот уже больше полувека дети разных поколений встречают Новый год в доброй компании двенадцати месяцев. Благодаря петербургскому композитору Сергею Баневичу (автору еще одной музыкальной сказки для детей — «Истории Кая и Герды» по мотивам «Снежной королевы» Андерсена) веселая песенка «Гори, гори ясно, чтобы не погасло» напоминает нам о том, что огонь любви, добра и дружбы всегда поможет преодолеть любые трудности.
