A musical ode to nature
The internationally acclaimed mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato comes to Ghent with a surprising program composed by herself that spans four centuries of music. In a semi-staged concert, she and her trusted musical partners from the baroque orchestra Il Pomo d'Oro explore the grandeur, power and mystery, but also the fragility and transience of nature. She sings the trumpet herself in Charles Ives' The Unanswered Question and also presents a new piece by Oscar and Grammy winner Rachel Portman: The First Morning of the World . She also shines in virtuoso arias by Cavalli and Handel and in songs by Wagner and Mahler. Discover the versatility of one of the world's most fascinating singers.

Een muzikale ode aan de natuur
De internationaal gevierde mezzosopraan Joyce DiDonato komt naar Gent met een verrassend, door haarzelf samengesteld programma dat vier eeuwen muziek overspant. In een semi-geënsceneerd concert verkent ze samen met haar vertrouwde muzikale partners van barokorkest Il Pomo d’Oro de grootsheid, de macht en het mysterie, maar ook de breekbaarheid en de vergankelijkheid van de natuur. Ze zingt zelf de trompetpartij in The Unanswered Question van Charles Ives en houdt ook een nieuw stuk van Oscar- én Grammy-winnares Rachel Portman boven de doopvont: The First Morning of the World.
