Franz Welser-Möst leads an evening of discovery in works penned by two American legends. First, the final piece by celebrated African American composer George Walker, written in 2015 in response to the shooting massacre at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in South Carolina. This expressive work is paired with Erich Korngold's only symphony, penned in his best melodic Hollywood style as a musical tribute to the life and achievements of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
