The action of one of the largest prose works of the Silver Age - the novel "Petersburg" takes place in Russia in 1905. The theater paid special attention to this fact - in 2015 it was 110 years since the first Russian revolution. Questions of the historical development of the Russian Empire are raised in "Petersburg" on the example of the relationship of one family. The conflict between a father and an adult son, love vicissitudes and confrontation between a person and society with its established laws are the main storylines, the background for which is a picture of a country torn apart by contradictions. The performance was created by the State Prize laureate Gennady Trostyanetsky , a student of Georgy Tovstonogov, a director with a unique style and a special author's view, a multiple winner of the Golden Soffit award and the owner of many other professional awards. Trostyanetsky's performances stand out among the works of his colleagues in that he always stages only the material that excites him deeply, penetrating deeply into the author's intention and unmistakably groping for pain points to which the viewer responds. For the stage of the Musical Comedy Theatre, the original music for the project was created by the honored worker of arts of the Russian Federation composer Georgy Firtich , known not only for his large-scale works in academic genres, but also for his work in theater and cinema. Modern musicologists define Firtich's professional style as "an acutely psychological avant-garde". Since 1994, the composer has headed the Association of Contemporary Music. His works are heard today in the performance of domestic and foreign musicians around the world. His music for the film by M. Schweitzer "The Golden Calf" and for the cartoons popular in Russia "The Adventures of Captain Vrungel" and "Doctor Aibolit" are widely known. Composer - laureate of the Dmitry Shostakovich Prize, awarded the Order of Friendship.
