During the premiere of Haydn's Symphony No. 96 , a heavy chandelier falls from the ceiling into the auditorium, but miraculously nobody is injured - the piece owes its nickname "The Miracle" to this legend to this day. In Beethoven's Prometheus Overture , on the other hand, the title says it all. For the freedom-loving composer, the titan who brought fire to mankind against the will of the gods must have been a kindred spirit inspirer.
