Chaos finally turns into harmony, and in many musical forms. This concert evening spans the spectrum from French baroque to 20th-century symphony. Chaos breaks out with a ›modern‹ cluster, and yet this acoustic modernism by Jean-Féry Rebel dates from 1737. With Beethoven, it is the titan Prometheus who brings people ›harmony‹ in the form of fire. And the composer Paul Hindemith calls his symphony from 1952 »The Harmony of the World«. It is a condensation of his opera about the life and work of the astronomer and mathematician Johannes Kepler, which was later premiered.

Harmony is also a central theme of the composer, oboist and conductor Ruth Gipps, whose music is worth rediscovering. Not only does she face reservations as a woman in a male-dominated music world, but also because of her style: she rejects atonality, twelve-tone music or serialism. At her »Oboe Concerto« from 1941 there is a reunion with Juliana Koch, once an oboist in the Ulm Philharmonic Orchestra.

Aus Chaos wird schließlich Harmonie, und das in vielerlei musikalischer Gestalt. Dieser Konzertabend spannt den Bogen von französischem Barock bis hin zur Sinfonik des 20. Jahrhunderts. Mit einem ›modernen‹ Cluster bricht sich das Chaos Bahn, und doch stammt diese akustische Moderne eines Jean-Féry Rebel aus dem Jahr 1737. Bei Beethoven ist es der Titan Prometheus, der den Menschen ›Harmonie‹ in Form des Feuers bringt. Und der Komponist Paul Hindemith nennt seine Sinfonie aus dem Jahr 1952 »Die Harmonie der Welt«. Sie ist ein Kondensat seiner später uraufgeführten Oper über das Leben und Wirken des Astronomen und Mathematikers Johannes Kepler.

Harmonie ist auch ein zentrales Thema der Komponistin, Oboistin und Dirigentin Ruth Gipps, deren Musik es wiederzuentdecken gilt. Sie ist nicht nur als Frau in einer von Männern dominierten Musikwelt mit Vorbehalten konfrontiert, sondern auch wegen ihres Stils: Atonalität, Zwölftonmusik oder Serialismus lehnt sie ab. Bei ihrem »Oboenkonzert« aus dem Jahr 1941 gibt es ein Wiederhören mit Juliana Koch, einst selbst Oboistin im Philharmonischen Orchester der Stadt Ulm.
