5. Orchesterkonzert by Mendelssohn, Bruch, De la (2023/2023), Dirijor Boian Videnoff, Congress Centers Rosengarten, Mannheim, Germany

The Mannheim Philharmonic are very happy to be able to celebrate another highlight of the season with the legendary violinist Pinchas Zukerman in the Rosengarten! Zukerman looks back on a five-decade career as a formative artistic personality, collaborating with the world's most important orchestras, conductors and chamber music partners and inspiring generations of young musicians. On May 16, 2023, you can experience this musician of the century with a masterpiece of the Romantic concert literature: Max Bruch's Violin Concerto No. 1 in G minor, Op. 26. Bruch was one of the most influential musicians of his generation, both as a composer and as a teacher. In his passionate First Violin Concerto, he not only fully exploited the potential of the solo instrument, but also created many thrilling and moving moments, especially in interaction with the orchestra. Pinchas Zukerman is one of the most important interpreters of Max Bruch's music worldwide. Bruch's concert is framed by two works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, who embarked on his first concert tour to London in 1829, where it was enthusiastically received. He then traveled to Scotland, where the sight of the raging seas of the Hebrides, a group of islands, inspired one of his most popular pieces. In Scotland he also began work on his Third Symphony. Here impressions of the landscape are said to have inspired the first drafts, but the composer left the work for several years and only completed it 13 years later. In this respect, it is debatable how much "Scotland" still resonates in the music, especially since the nickname was never authorized by the composer.
