Joseph Haydn's Trumpet Concerto was to be his last instrumental concerto - a large-scale orchestral work imbued with musical maturity and bewitching beauty. Reinhold Friedrich, who has earned the reputation of a “trumpet god”, is a guest soloist with the Philharmonic State Orchestra. The Croatian-Italian pianist Martina Filjak can be heard at his side in Dmitri Shostakovich's double concerto for piano and trumpet. Just as Shostakovich humorously caricatures the classical concert gesture in his concerto, Sergei Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 is considered an affectionate parody of the tonal language of Haydn and the early Tchaikovsky. Finally, a piece of true classicism: Mozart's Symphony No. 34.

Joseph Haydns Trompetenkonzert sollte sein letztes Instrumentalkonzert sein – ein groß angelegtes Orchesterwerk, erfüllt von musikalischer Reife und berückender Schönheit. Als Solist beim Philharmonischen Staatsorchester zu Gast ist Reinhold Friedrich, der sich den Ruf eines „Trompeten-Gottes“ erspielt hat. In Dmitri Schostakowitschs Doppelkonzert für Klavier und Trompete ist die kroatisch-italienische Pianistin Martina Filjak an seiner Seite zu erleben. Ebenso wie Schostakowitsch in seinem Konzert humorvoll den klassischen Konzert-Gestus karikiert, gilt Sergei Prokofjews 1. Symphonie als liebevolle Parodie der Tonsprache Haydns und des frühen Tschaikowsky. Zum Abschluss ein Stück wahrer Klassik: Mozarts Symphonie Nr. 34.
