Opera ahat ilī - Sister of the Gods is the highlight of this year's edition of the Sacrum Profanum festival, prepared at his request. The author of the libretto is Olga Tokarczuk, who created it based on her book Anna In w tobowce świata. The writer reached for one of the oldest myths of mankind. Its heroine is the Sumerian goddess of love and war Inanna. In the opera directed by Pia Partum, however, the emphasis was shifted to her maid - ahat ilī. The show will allow us to trace the heroine's difficulties with understanding the gods and become witnesses of her inevitable defeat. Tokarczuk's libretto has been translated into several languages. In the opera, we will hear modern English from the lips of human figures, while divine and demonic characters will sing in ancient languages: Akkadian, Latin, Ancient Greek, Proto-Slavic and Aztec. "Most of the characters in this story are gods, but the main character is man and his sometimes divine and sometimes non-divine nature," says Alek Nowak. The music was written using modern means of expression and with few references to the tradition of the genre. The soloists will include: Joanna Freszel, Ewa Biegas, Urszula Kryger, Jakub Monowid, Łukasz Konieczny, Sebastian Szumski, Bartłomiej Misiuda, who will perform parts with the accompaniment of AUKSO and the Polish Radio Choir.

Opera ahat ilī – Siostra bogów jest kulminacyjnym punktem tegorocznej edycji festiwalu Sacrum Profanum, przygotowana na jego zamówienie. Autorką libretta jest Olga Tokarczuk, która stworzyła go w oparciu o swoją książkę Anna In w grobowcach świata. Pisarka sięgnęła do jednego z najstarszych mitów ludzkości. Jego bohaterką jest sumeryjska bogini miłości i wojny Inanna. W operze wyreżyserowanej przez Pię Partum akcent został jednak przesunięty na jej służącą – ahat ilī. Widowisko pozwoli nam prześledzić trudności bohaterki ze zrozumieniem bogów i stać się świadkami jej nieuniknionej klęski. Libretto Tokarczuk zostało przetłumaczone na kilka języków. W operze z ust postaci ludzkich usłyszymy współczesny język angielski, natomiast postaci boskie i demoniczne będą śpiewać w językach dawnych: akadyjskim, łacińskim, starogreckim, prasłowiańskim oraz azteckim. „Większość postaci w tej historii to bogowie, ale głównym bohaterem jest człowiek i jego czasem boska, a czasem nie-boska natura” – mówi Alek Nowak. Muzyka została napisana z wykorzystaniem współczesnych środków wyrazu i nielicznymi nawiązaniami do tradycji gatunku. Wśród solistów znajdą się: Joanna Freszel, Ewa Biegas, Urszula Kryger, Jakub Monowid, Łukasz Konieczny, Sebastian Szumski, Bartłomiej Misiuda, którzy wykonają partie z towarzyszeniem AUKSO i Chóru Polskiego Radia.
