Anne Frank meets Zef Bunga. The Jewish girl who was hiding from the National Socialists in a rear building in Amsterdam, and the boy of today who was just shot in blood revenge. Two lives that ended far too soon meet in a surreal space, question each other, find sympathy, tell each other their longings, hopes and what really happened. The chamber opera by the Dutch composer and singer Monique Krüs exploits the core competence of the opera genre to a certain extent: creating a fictional situation that gives space for cruel reality and sweet utopia and makes both emotionally tangible through music.
