A young woman penetrates a so-called male domain, causes a sensation - and in the end buries her talents in order to enable the marriage with her former competitor. This dramaturgical arc of suspense from the 1940s doesn't really fit into the time, but with all the cheerful swing of the music it holds up a mirror to us in 2022 as well: Have the conditions really changed since then? Or does society still demand this female sacrifice far too often?

It is a true story that gave the American pop composer Irving Berlin the material for his world-famous musical Annie Get Your Gun in 1946 . Annie Oakley, an American farmer's daughter who was keen on shooting and scruffy - she lived from 1860 to 1926 - challenged the famous circus sniper Frank Butler to a shooting competition, eventually defeated him and married him.

Buffalo Bill, Chief Sitting Bull, spectacular shooting competitions - with the Klagenfurt premiere of Annie Get Your Gun , the Wild West comes to the stage of the city theater. The musical self-taught Irving Berlin was a gifted songwriter, wrote over 1000 songs and many, such as White Christmas , became immortal evergreens. So it's no wonder that his most successful Broadway musical can also boast six world hits. With Buffalo Bills and Frank Butler's song There's No Business Like Show Business, he even gave the American entertainment industry a kind of industry anthem.
The well-known director and choreographer Pascale-Sabine Chevroton is coming to our house for the first time and will stage the exciting romance between the two competing Wild West Show art shooters.
