Pál Ábrahám was a believer in the dance-music stage genre with high-quality literature but no snaps. In his works, he sought to go beyond the usual patterns of action of classical operettas. In his music, he drew a lot from dance music and jazz close to everyday life, and usually focused on reviving the atmosphere of big city life on stage. His heroes already evoke a world of thriving capitalism rather than a withering aristocracy.

The operetta Ball in Savoy was performed at the Hungarian Theater in Budapest on Christmas Day 1932, but before that, the work of Pál Abraham conquered Europe: it was performed in almost every capital, from Berlin to London, Vienna and Athens. The authors of the textbook are the work of Jenő Heltai, a great Hungarian translation of the successful Viennese authors, Grünewald and Beda. Along with Mária Lázár and Hilda Harmath, Jenő Törzs sang the famous hit: “Toujours l'amour, a lady and a gentleman, life is beautiful in two ...” Gyula Kabos played the unforgettable figure of Musztafa Imre, the female jazz conductor, was played by Mária Rökk.

Pál Abraham did what few are capable of: he brilliantly blended exotic (Spanish, Oriental, Russian) and Hungarian flavors with his overwhelming jazz fashion in his operettas. One of the secrets of his success was that he also wrote his best songs as originally lyrics-free dance music, anticipating the record, the radio, and the dance floor — new pledges to the operettas ’success. Even today, many can hum the catchy songs of the Ball in Savoy: "Little one take care to be a grandmother one day," or "My name is La bella Tangolita!"

The two-part revue operetta, based on a cabaret-fitting marriage complication, takes place in Nice. The Faublas couple have just arrived home from their honeymoon: the brand Henry de Faublas and his wife, the beautiful Madeleine, still envy each other after a hearty honeymoon.

But unexpectedly, the husband's slightly turbulent past intervenes in the person of La Tangolita, a Brazilian dancer. When they broke up, the brand handed over an unfilled bill of exchange to the artist, which is about an overnight coexistence. La Tangolita wants to redeem this debt at a large ball at the Savoy Hotel. Madeleine, guessing the thing, also shows up at the ball, disguising herself as a light-blooded woman. The Savoy Hotel features Daisy Parker, Madeleine’s niece from America, also in disguise, and there’s also the brand’s friend, Mustafa Bej, an attache at the Turkish embassy in Paris.
