Im Barock ging es hoch her – nicht nur im Leben, auch in der Musik. Dabei zeugen die Werke barocker Komponisten nicht nur von intensiver Dramatik, sondern auch, wie in diesem Konzert zu erleben, von einer großen Portion Humor. »Zur besonderen Erquickung des Gehörs« schrieb Georg Muffat, der Kosmopolit unter den Barockkomponisten, seine »aus Ernst und Spaß gewobenen Instrumentalkonzerte«, die bis heute den Einfallsreichtum und die spielerische Seite des Barockzeitalters unter Beweis stellen. Ebenso anschaulich und humoristisch geht es bei Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber zu: In seinem wohl für den Karneval 1673 komponierten Stück »La Battaglia« imitiert er nicht nur eine Schlacht, sondern auch gleich das wirre Durcheinandersingen betrunkener Musketiere. Georg Philipp Telemann wiederum zeigt sich in seiner »Ouvertüre verbunden mit einer tragikomischen Suite« mit dem Titel »Der eingebildete Kranke« von seiner satirischen Seite, indem er medizinisch äußerst fragwürdige Tipps zur Genesung vorführt. Der Gichtleidende soll durch eine holprige Fahrt mit der Postkutsche und Tanz geheilt werden, der eingebildete Kranke durch heldenhafte Duldsamkeit und der eitle Geck soll zur Heilung ein Bordell aufsuchen. Mit diesen und weiteren originellen musikalischen Leckerbissen setzen wir die Reihe unserer Barockkonzerte fort.

In the baroque era things were really happening – not just in life, but also in music. The works of baroque composers not only testify to intense drama, but also, as can be experienced in this concert, to a large portion of humour. Georg Muffat, the cosmopolitan among the baroque composers, wrote his "instrumental concertos woven from seriousness and fun" "for a special refreshment of the ear", which to this day prove the inventiveness and the playful side of the baroque age. Heinrich Ignaz Franz Biber is just as graphic and humorous: in his piece »La Battaglia«, which was probably composed for the carnival of 1673, he not only imitates a battle, but also the confused singing of drunken musketeers. Georg Philipp Telemann, on the other hand, shows his satirical side in his »overture combined with a tragi-comic suite« entitled »The imaginary sick person« by presenting extremely questionable medical tips for recovery.
