Report of the TV channel "Russia-1" about the premiere of the play "La Boheme"

The work of G. Puccini in the repertory playbill of "Helikon-Opera" is reflected in such famous performances as "Turandot" and "Tosca", which became hits on the Moscow opera stage. Now another Puccini masterpiece will be added to them - in September 2022, the theater will start staging La bohème.
Puccini is a challenge for any director. In each of his operas, behind the curtain of layers, Puccini keeps his jewels, to get to which is the task of the director. The future "La Boheme" is another step of the theater in this direction.

"La Boheme" is the dream of any opera person, because this opera is about creative people, and the musical means that the author uses have not lost their relevance and cannot lose. It is no coincidence that La Bohème is recognized as one of the peaks of verism: life itself bursts into music, and it is easy to recognize your acquaintances and friends in the heroes of the opera. This is precisely the beauty and delicacy of "La Boheme" - it is always modern. Puccini was not only a brilliant composer, but also an excellent director of his music. It is so theatrical that anyone who undertakes to stage his operas finds himself under the wing of the author.

In Russia, the opera "La Boheme" has a long history and countless productions both in the capitals and in the regions. But perhaps the most striking event in the history of the Russian "La Boheme" was its premiere at the Opera Studio under the direction of Konstantin Stanislavsky in 1927. Young studio students acted out the action in contemporary Paris.

In "Helikon" the production of "La Boheme" is being prepared by creative youth, who were searched all over Russia. In the spring of 2022, a competition was announced, as a result of which, out of more than a hundred people who sent applications, 8 people will start the production (including the finalists of the Nano-Opera International Competition for Young Opera Directors and the ArtMasters National Championship of Creative Competencies ) . The musical director of the production is Philipp Selivanov, one of the youngest conductors in Russia. The performance will involve young stars of "Helikon-Opera", who have already won the love and recognition of the audience, graduates and participants of the Youth program of opera artists of the "Helikon-Opera".

We live in a time when the world is engulfed in a pandemic and the most ordinary human joys - friendly communication, hugs, meetings - are in danger of disappearing. But love and friendship are timeless. Everyone needs them. They become the core that helps humanity survive. And Puccini's music is beyond time and space. This opera does not leave anyone indifferent, forcing us to think about the most important thing in our life - about the love and dignity of a person.
