Il y avait la « grande » Cenerentola, celle en italien composée par Rossini. Il y a désormais la petite, la Cenerentolina, véritable condensé de l'esprit rossinien mais avec des paroles en français pour être comprises par tout le monde sans surtitre. Dans ce spectacle conçu pour le jeune public, les metteurs en scène Sandra Pocceschi et Giacomo Strada se réapproprient les éléments iconiques du conte de Cendrillon tel que raconté par Charles Perrault, les frères Grimm ou encore Walt Disney - la citrouille, les douze coups de minuit, la pantoufle de verre, etc. - pour mieux les détourner de leur usage traditionnel.
