In 2022, Chicago, one of the most popular pieces of musical literature in the world, was staged for the first time in the history of the Festival as an own production of the Szeged Outdoor Games. The popularity of the work of John Kander, Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse can be attributed not only to its music, which combines the best traditions of jazz, revue and American show business, but also to its timeless topicality.

On the evening of July 28th, 29th, and 30th, the final production of the last season will be shown again in the largest star-roofed theater in Hungary, under the innovative direction of Attila Béres.

A Szegedi Szabadtéri Játékok saját produkciójaként, a Fesztivál történetében először került színpadra 2022-ben a világ musicalirodalmának egyik legnépszerűbb darabja, a Chicago. John Kander, Fred Ebb és Bob Fosse művének népszerűségét a jazz, a revü és az amerikai showbiznisz legjobb hagyományait ötvöző zenéjén kívül elévülhetetlen aktualitású témájának is köszönheti.
