Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, a thrilling reversal of comedy and lessons

 

〈Gianni Skiki〉, the last work of the 'Il trittico' composed in the last years of Puccini, corresponds to Dante's 'New Song' and 'Hell'. It is short but pleasant, and the humor and poignancy are sharply described, making it one of the best masterpieces of the 'trilogy'. The story revolves around the legacy of an old rich man, famous for Lauretta's aria 'Oh dear father'.

 

This performance, which is held in the form of a concert opera, presents the essence of opera by adding orchestra performances with vocalists carefully selected by the National Opera. The delicate musical beauty of the opera is further emphasized, and even the audience who is not familiar with opera music can comfortably enjoy the performance of the singers, including makeup and acting, just like the actual opera stage.

코믹과 교훈의 통쾌한 반전 드라마, 푸치니의 잔니 스키키(Gianni Schicchi)

 

푸치니가 말년에 작곡한 ‘3부작’(Il trittico) 중 마지막 작품인 〈잔니 스키키〉는 단테의 <신곡>‘지옥편’에 해당한다. 짧지만 유쾌하고 해학과 신랄함이 예리하게 묘사되어 ‘3부작’ 중 최고의 걸작으로 꼽힌다. 늙은 부호의 유산을 둘러싼 에피소드로 꾸며지는 이야기로, 라우레타의 아리아 ‘오 사랑하는 아버지’가 유명하다.

 

콘서트오페라 형식으로 진행되는 이번 공연에서는 국립오페라단이 엄선한 성악가들과 함께 오케스트라 연주가 더해져 오페라의 정수를 선사한다. 오페라의 섬세한 음악적 아름다움이 더욱 강조되며 실제 오페라 무대와 동일하게 분장, 연기를 포함한 성악가들의 연주로 오페라 음악에 익숙하지 않은 관객도 편안하게 즐길 수 있다.
