CSO Mead Composer-in-Residence Jessie Montgomery invites you to the first performance of the 25th anniversary season of the CSO MusicNOW series! "This season is really special because we’re celebrating the interconnectedness between composers from different generations and different stylistic backgrounds,” says Montgomery. Join her on October 24 for a performance of one of her own pieces, plus works by Alvin Singleton and Carlos Simon.

Marking both the start of the 25th season of CSO MusicNOW and its return to Symphony Center, Mead Composer-in-Residence Jessie Montgomery and musicians from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra unite to perform works by kindred spirits Alvin Singleton and Carlos Simon. Among the works featured are Singleton’s experimental and improvisational Be Natural for three bowed stringed instruments and Simon’s whimsical and wildly syncopated Lickety Split for cello and piano. Though stylistically different, the program highlights the composers’ shared influences through their own unique lenses.

Each ticket includes access to a postconcert party in the Rotunda at Symphony Center. MusicNOW is more than a concert; it’s an immersive evening of celebrating the arts and meeting new people. Following the concert, you’re invited to the Rotunda for an afterparty complete with photo opportunities, a gallery of artwork specially designed by local artist Donovan Foote to commemorate the 25th season of MusicNOW and more. Enjoy complimentary sparkling wine and treats while you meet new friends and mingle with the artists at this new social arts event!
