The 51st Istanbul Music Festival, on the 100th anniversary of the Republic, pays homage to the early tango composers of our country. Having gained a surprising momentum in our country since the 1920s, tango experienced its golden age in Turkey as well as in the world between the years 1930-50. In the founding years of our country, tango, which was adopted as the first polyphonic music of the young Republic, which turned its face to the West, created its own composers in these lands. Composers such as Necip Celal Andel, Fehmi Ege, Necdet Koyutürk and İbrahim Özgür, who played an extremely important role in the westernization of our music, produced many tango pieces.

Conductor Hakan Şensoy, who was also the music director of the concert, scanned the tango archives for the festival and brought to light the forgotten compositions of the early Republican period that remained in the music notebooks. The Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra conductor and composer Hasan Niyazi Tura both arranged the compositions and presented a new instrumental tango piece to the festival, which will be presented to the audience for the first time. This precious repertoire will be performed by tango-loving artists consisting of Ezgi Köker, one of the Incesaz soloists, and Teyfik Rodos, Tolga Salman, Rüstem Mustafa and Toros Can, accompanied by the Milli Re Chamber Orchestra. The festival awaits all music lovers in the courtyard of Saint Benoît French High School who want to experience the musical manifestations of the excitement, courage and idealism of the early Republic with a flawless performance.

İstanbul Müzik Festivali, Cumhuriyet’in 100. yılında, ülkemizin erken dönem tango bestecilerine saygı duruşunda bulunuyor. 1920’lerden itibaren ülkemizde şaşırtıcı bir ivme kazanan tango, 1930-50 yılları arasında dünyada olduğu gibi Türkiye’de de altın devrini yaşadı. Ülkemizin kuruluş yıllarında, yüzünü Batı’ya dönen genç Cumhuriyet’in ilk çoksesli müziği olarak benimsenen tango, bu topraklarda da kendi bestecilerini yarattı. Müziğimizin Batılılaşmasında son derece önemli rol oynayan Necip Celal Andel, Fehmi Ege, Necdet Koyutürk ve İbrahim Özgür gibi besteciler, birçok tango eseri üretti.

Konserin müzik direktörlüğünü de üstlenen şef Hakan Şensoy, festival için tango arşivlerini tarayarak erken Cumhuriyet döneminin unutulmaya yüz tutmuş, nota defterlerinde kalmış bestelerini günyüzüne çıkardı. İstanbul Devlet Senfoni Orkestrası şefi ve besteci Hasan Niyazi Tura ise hem bestelerin aranjmanlarını yaptı hem de festivale, ilk defa dinleyici karşısına çıkacak yeni bir enstrümantal tango eseri hediye etti. Bu nadide repertuvarı, Milli Reasürans Oda Orkestrası'nın eşliğinde İncesaz'ın solistlerinden Ezgi Köker ile Teyfik Rodos, Tolga Salman, Rüstem Mustafa ve Toros Can’dan oluşan tango tutkunu sanatçılar icra edecek. Festival, erken Cumhuriyet’in heyecanının, cesaretinin ve idealizminin müzikal tezahürlerini kusursuz bir icrayla tecrübe etmek isteyen tüm müzikseverleri Saint Benoît Fransız Lisesi’nin avlusuna bekliyor.
