Dausgaard Og Tjajkovskijs 5.
Oratorio / OrchestralConcert
The Danish master conductor Thomas Dausgaard leads in one of Tchaikovsky's absolutely most popular symphonies on an evening where we also get a visit from the pianist Gustav Piekut – one of the great Danish soloist hopes of the young generation. In recent years, Gustav Piekut has had a prominent role on the Danish concert scene as 'The rock star of classical music'. Despite his young age, he has already been announced as Denmark's next world name in classical music - and he is loved by both audiences and reviewers. It has also resulted in several talent awards, and now the doors to international attention are really open. Hear for yourself when Piekut throws himself into Herman D. Koppel's Piano Concerto No. 3 – the most frequently played Danish piano concerto of all. Here soloist and orchestra play against each other. This evening under the expert direction of Thomas Dausgaard, who even once had the pleasure of conducting the work with Koppel himself as soloist. Dausgaard is also at the helm of Tchaikovsky's beloved grandeur of a symphony that insists that the fight against ills and upset emotions is worth it after all. In the colossal masterpiece, Tchaikovsky confronts his own destiny and fuses grief and joy into wonderful and captivating beauty that utilizes all the possibilities of the great symphony orchestra to the fullest. The symphony stands today as an inescapable masterpiece, which with its melodic beauty is undoubtedly one of the most loved and played works in concert halls worldwide. The concert opens with Hilda Sehested's orchestral piece Lygtemænd from 1896 – one of the composer's best-known works. Inspired by the atmosphere and life in Copenhagen around the turn of the century and known for its lyrical and atmospheric character.
