Decisive Moments #6 presents the "War Vocabulary" project: A collection of previously untold everyday accounts written by Ukrainian citizens involuntarily caught up in hostilities. The reports are all written, after the war with Russia broke out, and testifies to the human search for meaning. About the immediate charity, the hope and the strong community and togetherness that binds us all to each other – across national borders. Personal and poignant moments, which this evening are enveloped by Górecki's strong symphony of sad songs in Christian Lollike's staging. "Determining moments can create sudden and strong bonds between people regardless of ethnicity, language and belief. For most of us, Ukraine – before February 24, 2022 – was a foreign country. But with the Russian invasion, that changed. Many still have Ukrainian flags in their windows and follow the media indignantly. Ukraine has moved closer. Became a population we feel for and with. With 'Decisive Moments #6' we delve into the days where everything changed in Ukraine. We want to create a testimonial story about the horrors Ukrainians are living under right now in order to seek to understand how life and everyday life can change from one day to the next. And that is exactly what we are doing by giving the Ukrainians the floor.” Christian Lollike. The Polish composer Henryk Górecki composed his immensely moving Symphony No. 3 in 1976. The music expresses both sadness and hope. With its simple tonal language, it has moved audiences worldwide to such an extent that it has become a global hit with sales in the millions, breaking all market records for modern composition music. And with one, Górekci became world famous. The symphony is composed for orchestra and solo soprano in three movements that explore the themes of war and loss: The first, a religious dirge from 16th-century Poland, the second a prayer written on the wall by a young Polish woman in a Nazi prison cell and finally the third depicts a Central European Silesian folk song in which a mother searches for her son. “War changes the meaning of words. I Copenhagen Phils sidste koncert i rækken af Afgørende øjeblikke møder Henryk Góreckis Symphony of sorrowful songs hverdagsberetninger fra det krigsramte Ukraine – instrueret og sat i scene af én af dansk teaters mest markante instruktører, Christian Lollike.

Afgørende øjeblikke #6 præsenterer projektet War Vocabulary: En samling af hidtil ufortalte hverdagsskildringer skrevet af ukrainske borgere, der ufrivilligt er fanget i fjendtligheder. Beretningerne er alle skrevet, efter krigen med Rusland brød ud, og vidner om den menneskelige søgen efter at skabe en mening. Om den umiddelbare næstekærlighed, håbet og det stærke fællesskab og sammenhold, der binder os alle til hinanden – på tværs af landegrænser. Personlige og rammende øjeblikke, der denne aften omhylles af Góreckis stærke symfoni af sorgfulde sange i Christian Lollikes iscenesættelse.

”Skelsættende øjeblikke kan knytte pludselige og stærke bånd mellem mennesker uagtet etnicitet, sprog og overbevisning. For de fleste af os var Ukraine – før 24. februar 2022 – et fremmed land. Men med den russiske invasion ændrede det sig. Mange har stadig ukrainske flag i vinduerne og følger indigneret med i medierne. Ukraine er rykket tættere på. Blevet en befolkning, vi føler for og med. Med ’Afgørende øjeblikke #6’ dykker vi ned i de dage, hvor alt ændrede sig i Ukraine. Vi ønsker at skabe en vidnesbyrdfortælling om de rædsler, ukrainerne lever under netop nu for at søge at forstå, hvordan livet og hverdagen kan ændre sig fra den ene dag til den anden. Og netop det gør vi ved at give ukrainerne ordet.” Christian Lollike.

Den polske komponist Henryk Górecki komponerede i 1976 sin umådelig gribende symfoni nr. 3. Musikken udtrykker både sorg og håb. Med sit enkle tonesprog har den bevæget publikum verden over i en grad, så den er blevet et globalt hit med salg i millionklassen, der har slået alle markedsrekorder for moderne kompositionsmusik. Og med et gjorde Górekci verdensberømt. Symfonien er komponeret for orkester og solosopran i tre satser, der udforsker temaerne krig og tab: Den første en religiøs klagesang fra 1500­tallets Polen, den anden en bøn skrevet på væggen af en ung polsk kvinde i en nazistisk fængselscelle og endelig skildrer den tredje en centraleuropæisk schlesisk folkesang, hvor en mor leder efter sin søn.
