Latający Holender to jedna z najczęściej wystawianych oper niemieckiego kompozytora okresu romantyzmu Richarda Wagnera. W Operze Leśnej zaprezentowana zostanie w formie zrealizowanego z olbrzymim rozmachem widowiska z wybitnymi solistami i zapierającą dech scenografią.

Okręt norweskiego kapitana wpływa do portu. Daland powraca bez zdobyczy, ale po przeżyciu niezwykłej przygody. Podczas morskiej wyprawy do jego statku przycumowała łódź z tajemniczą załogą bladych marynarzy, którzy proszą o zabranie listów. W niejasnych okolicznościach Daland spotkał też człowieka, który przedstawił się jako Holender. Po udanych interesach i okazyjnym zakupie diamentów Daland postanowił powierzyć Holendrowi rękę swej pięknej córki Senty. Dziewczyna od lat owładnięta jest obsesją Holendra tułacza – okrętu błądzącego po ocenach i sprowadzającego na żeglarzy nieszczęście. Okazuje się jednak, że mężczyzna, któremu Daland oddał córkę, to właśnie kapitan przeklętych żeglarzy. Nie doświadczy on upragnionej śmierci, dopóki nie spotka wiernej i oddanej kobiety. Senta postanawia go zbawić. Niestety, Holender to żywy trup, a ślub z trupem możliwy jest tylko poprzez śmierć. Gdy statek Holendra wpływa w mgłę, dziewczyna rzuca się ze skały w morze i ostatecznie uwalnia ukochanego od znienawidzonego życia.

The Flying Dutchman is one of the most frequently staged operas by the German composer of the Romantic period, Richard Wagner. At the Forest Opera, it will be presented in the form of a spectacular spectacle with outstanding soloists and breathtaking scenography.

The ship of the Norwegian captain enters the port. Daland returns without prey, but after experiencing an extraordinary adventure. During a sea trip, a boat moored to his ship with a mysterious crew of pale sailors who ask to take the letters. In unclear circumstances, Daland also met a man who introduced himself as Dutch. After successful business and a bargain purchase of diamonds, Daland decided to entrust the hand of his beautiful daughter Senta to the Dutchman. For years, the girl has been obsessed with the wandering Dutchman - a ship wandering around the ratings and bringing misfortune to sailors. However, it turns out that the man to whom Daland gave his daughter is the captain of the cursed sailors. He will not experience the desired death until he meets a faithful and devoted woman. Senta decides to save him. Unfortunately, the Dutchman is the living dead, and marrying a corpse is possible only through death. When the Dutchman's ship enters the fog, the girl throws herself from the rock into the sea and finally frees her beloved from the hated life.
