The operetta The Count of Luxembourg, written by F. Lehar 4 years after the triumphant The Merry Widow, was a great success with the public. First staged at the Vienna Theater An der Wien on November 12, 1909, it is still one of the repertoire performances of many theaters. In Russia, the first production of The Count of Luxembourg took place already in the winter of 1909 at the St. Petersburg theater "Winter Buff".

Carnival in Paris. In the workshop of the artist Rene von Luxembourg - by the way, the count - bohemia is having fun. Here, the stunning news is publicly announced: the singer Angele Didier, for whom all Paris is going crazy, is getting married to the old prince. But the prince wants to avoid a misalliance with all his might - he offers Count Rene a deal: he receives a large sum and incognito marries Angela in order to immediately divorce her, bestowing the title of countess. So the prince will be able to marry not a singer, but a lady from high society. And everything would have gone smoothly if Cupid had not flown past, which pierced the hearts of the newlyweds as soon as they met ...

Оперетта «Граф Люксембург», написанная Ф. Легаром спустя 4 года после триумфальной «Весёлой вдовы», имела большой успех у публики. Впервые поставленная в венском театре «Ан дер Вин» 12 ноября 1909 года, она до сих пор является одним из репертуарных спектаклей многих театров. В России первая постановка «Графа Люксембург» состоялась уже зимой 1909 года в петербургском театре «Зимний буфф».

Карнавал в Париже. В мастерской художника Рене фон Люксембурга – между прочим, графа – веселится богема. Здесь во всеуслышание объявлена сногсшибательная новость: певица Анжель Дидье, по которой сходит с ума весь Париж, выходит замуж за старого князя. Но князь всеми силами хочет избежать мезальянса – он предлагает графу Рене сделку: тот получает крупную сумму и инкогнито женится на Анжель, чтобы тут же развестись с ней, одарив титулом графини. Так князь сможет жениться не на певичке, а на даме из высшего общества. И все бы прошло гладко, если бы мимо не пролетал купидон, который пронзил сердца новоиспеченных молодоженов как только они встретились...

В этой оперетте найдется чему поучиться юношам и девам, вступающим на путь брака. «Граф Люксембург» содержит массу ценных советов на этот счет, которые даются под аккомпанемент исключительно прекрасной, местами очень похожей на оперную, музыки. Так что не стоит молодежи полностью переключаться на мюзикл, пренебрегая опереттой. Ей есть еще много чего сказать.
