“The core of the work’s thought is the power of true love based on fidelity. Representatives of pure love and the desire for freedom are opposed to power hostile to them. Although the plot of the work is the preparation and execution of the escape, it is not the most important thing to say. The point is that the actors have to break through mental barriers. The two loving pairs in the play, and even the enemy, Selim’s pasha, have to adjust to the maze of emotions. Belmonte, who is searching for his love, finds the place where his sweetheart is being held right from the beginning of the opera. But will he find the girl's heart again? Fate also gives the lesson to Constance: he could break the captivity, he could forget his old sweetheart besides the bass for surviving. Can he stay true to his love until death? Selim is an all-powerful prisoner, yet he expects that Konstanze would love him by his free and independent determination. Is she able to cope with her reluctant will, and meanwhile her past and the possibility of failure, with so much loyalty and perseverance? ” (Tamás Juronics, director)
