It's always an event when the Musicbanda Franui comes up with a new project. The chamber ensemble from the Austrian mountains not only makes music at an incredibly high level, they also regularly team up with artists from completely different genres: with cabaret artists, video artists or - as in his latest production - with the bass-baritone Florian Boesch and the enchanting Puppeteer Nikolaus Habjan. Together they make music, act and sing Franz Schubert's "Die Schöne Müllerin".

"Wandering is the miller's delight" begins the song cycle that accompanies a traveling journeyman on confusing paths: how he gets hired at a mill, falls in love with the beautiful miller's daughter and finally loses himself between the search for meaning and lovesickness. Franui encounters the songs in an unusual instrumentation: in addition to harp and dulcimer, double bass, trumpet and clarinet are also represented. In combination with Boesch's captivating singing and the soulful puppets, Schubert's music surpasses itself - deeply touching art.

Es ist jedes Mal ein Ereignis, wenn die Musicbanda Franui wieder ein neues Projekt ausheckt. Das Kammerensemble aus den österreichischen Bergen macht nicht nur Musik auf unerhört hohem Niveau, es tut sich auch regelmäßig mit Künstler:innen aus völlig anderen Sparten zusammen: mit Kabarettisten, Videokünstlern oder – wie in seiner neuesten Produktion – mit dem Bassbariton Florian Boesch und dem hinreißenden Puppenspieler Nikolaus Habjan. Gemeinsam musizieren, schauspielern und singen sie Franz Schuberts »Die schöne Müllerin«.

»Das Wandern ist des Müllers Lust«, so beginnt der Liederzyklus, der einen fahrenden Gesellen auf verworrenen Pfaden begleitet: wie er an einer Mühle anheuert, sich in die schöne Müllerstochter verliebt und sich schließlich zwischen Sinnsuche und Liebeskummer verliert. Franui begegnet den Liedern in außergewöhnlicher Besetzung: Neben Harfe und Hackbrett sind auch Kontrabass, Trompete und Klarinette vertreten. Im Verbund mit Boeschs fesselndem Gesang und den beseelten Klappmaulpuppen wächst Schuberts Musik über sich hinaus – tief anrührende Kunst.
