Don Carlo , a work in which the personal desires of the characters struggle with the obligations arising from their social and political status, is one of the top opera works inspired by great historical themes due to its artistic value and contemporary message. Its creator, the greatest genius of the Italian opera Giuseppe Verdi, emphasizes the individual actions of the characters. The mass scenes no longer form the focus and essence of the story, as in some of its earlier patriotic opuses.
The composer abandons the usual musical methods and subordinates the music to the dramatic context of the story. And in the end, even the arias themselves no longer stand on traditional schemes, but with their expression and unique shape, with fascinating plasticity and suggestiveness, they create a deep psychological relief of magnificent characters.
