Upplev Donizettis härliga opera Don Pasquale i en ny uppsättning med dansant regi.

Don Pasquale är van att få sin vilja fram. För att säkra släktens fortlevnad utser han en fru åt brorsonen Ernesto. Men Ernesto vägrar. Han är redan kär i en annan kvinna, Norina. Don Pasquale gör Ernesto arvlös och bestämmer sig för att själv gifta sig. Som tur är dyker Malatesta, Don Pasquales terapeut och Ernestos vän, upp med en finurlig plan för att paret ska få varandra. Tillsammans med Norina ger han gubben en rejäl – och invecklad – läxa.

Intrigen känns igen från otaliga pjäser och operor (bland annat Strauss Die schweigsame Frau, som också spelas på GöteborgsOperan denna säsong). Men sällan skildras den med så pärlande musik, från de mest sprittande melodierna till de mest ömsinta. Don Pasquale är en av Donizettis allra sista operor och vid sidan av Kärleksdrycken hans mest omtyckta komedi.

För den dansanta regin står Annika Lindqvist. I denna uppdaterade Don Pasquale har titelfiguren fastnat i 1980-talet medan Norina är en självständig kvinna av i dag.

Experience Donizetti's wonderful opera Don Pasquale in a new production with dance direction.

Don Pasquale is used to getting his way. To ensure the family's survival, he appoints a wife for his nephew Ernesto. But Ernesto refuses. He is already in love with another woman, Norina. Don Pasquale disinherits Ernesto and decides to marry himself. Luckily, Malatesta, Don Pasquale's therapist and Ernesto's friend, shows up with a clever plan for the couple to get each other. Together with Norina, he gives the old man a serious – and complicated – lesson.

The plot is recognizable from countless plays and operas (including Strauss's Die schweigsame Frau , which is also being performed at the Gothenburg Opera this season). But rarely is it depicted with such pearly music, from the most effervescent melodies to the most tender. Don Pasquale is one of Donizetti's very last operas and, along with The Love Potion , his most popular comedy.

Annika Lindqvist is responsible for the dance direction . In this updated Don Pasquale , the title character is stuck in the 1980s while Norina is an independent woman of today.
