Sparkling music, a whirlwind of passionate dance, the rhythmic sound of castanets, mesmerizing jumps and virtuoso fouettes: all this is the ballet Don Quixote, written by composer Ludwig Minkus to a libretto by Marius Petipa.

In Cervantes' novel, the image of the sad knight Don Quixote, ready for any exploits and noble deeds, is the basis of the plot. In the ballet, Don Quixote is a minor character, and the plot focuses on the love story of Kitri and Basil performing their variations in the town square.

Искрящаяся музыка, вихрь страстного танца, ритмичный стук кастаньет, завораживающие прыжки и виртуозные фуэте: все это — балет «Дон Кихот», написанный композитором Людвигом Минкусом на либретто Мариуса Петипа.

В романе Сервантеса образ печального рыцаря Дон Кихота, готового на любые подвиги и благородные поступки, является основой сюжета. В балете Дон Кихот является второстепенным персонажем, а сюжет сосредотачивается на любовной истории Китри и Базиля, исполняющих свои вариации на городской площади.
