The celebration of light and music will take place in the White Column Hall of the Yusupov Palace . This hall was famous not only for one of the best ceremonial interiors of the 19th century , where luxurious balls and holidays were held, but also for its excellent acoustics. It was within these walls that Glinka's A Life for the Tsar was first performed, a work that became the ancestor of Russian opera.
The charming Oksana Shilova , the magnificent soprano of the Mariinsky Theater, takes part in the concert. Critics note the crystal timbre of her coloratura soprano and bright artistic talent.
