A shy child, Ermonela Jaho found complete freedom of expression in singing. His father had noticed him. For her, life was more beautiful while singing...

Albanian soprano Ermonela Jaho discovered music at the age of six in Tirana where she continued her brilliant studies. She then won first prizes in the singing competitions of Milan, Ancona and Rovereto, then perfected her skills at the Academy of Santa Cecilia in Rome. It was with Mimì that she made her debut on the stage of the Teatro Comunale in Bologna. Building on this success, she played Susanna / Le Nozze di Figaro in Venice and Micaëla / Carmen in Trieste. Today she performs on the greatest international operatic stages in the roles of Violetta, Cio-Cio San and, above all, Suor Angelica at the Royal Opera House in London, for which she received the Readers Award at the International Opera in 2016. Awards.

During the 2017-2018 season, she triumphed in Munich, at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and at the MET. Her repertoire includes the great belcanto heroines of Rossini, Bellini, Donizetti, the most important roles of Verdi and Puccini, but also characters from French opera such as Thaïs, Antonia/ Les Contes d'Hoffmann and operas by 'Auber, Bizet, Chabrier, Gounod or Poulenc. She further extends her repertoire in early music with Handel and excels in the works of Mozart. More recently, she has successfully tackled the great Russian composers, Prokofiev, Rimsky-Korsakov, Tchaikovsky and Stravinsky. Her exceptional talent and her rare ability to encompass a wide variety of repertoires make her one of today's most prominent singers.

Sollicitée dans le monde entier, Ermonela Jaho est particulièrement reconnue pour ses interprétations de Violetta (La Traviata), Madama Butterfly, Suor Angelica (Il Trittico), Adriana Lecouvreur et bien d’autres encore, où elle laisse sa marque indélébile sur tout ce qu’elle chante. Elle a remporté l’International Classical Music Awards 2021 avec son album solo “Anima Rara”.

Ermonela Jaho, qui réside aujourd’hui à New York, est née en Albanie et a commencé à prendre des cours de chant à l’âge de six ans. À 14 ans, elle est emmenée pour la première fois à l’Opéra de Tirana où elle entend La Traviata et décide de devenir chanteuse d’opéra. À 19 ans, elle s’installe à Rome pour poursuivre ses études à l’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia. Au cours des années suivantes, elle remporte de nombreux concours de chant en Italie, ce qui lui ouvre les portes de sa carrière de chanteuse. Les interprétations vivantes d’Ermonela Jaho et son identification exceptionnelle avec les rôles qu’elle interprète sont soulignées dans toutes ses critiques. Depuis, elle a été ovationnée à Londres, Paris, New York, Munich, Berlin, Madrid et partout ailleurs. The Economist l’a décrite comme “un ange ardent… la soprano la plus acclamée au monde”, le Financial Times “elle met tout son cœur et toute son âme dans son chant. N’essayez même pas de résister”, The Independent la qualifie de “meilleure Madama Butterfly que Londres ait vue depuis des années” et le Daily Telegraph d’Australie la décrit comme “un phénomène imparable”.

Son exceptionnel talent et sa rare capacité à englober des répertoires très variés en font l’une des cantatrices actuelles les plus en vue.
