Klosters Music 2021 widmet das Eröffnungskonzert dem grossen Komponisten Mozart und seiner Liebe zur böhmischen Stadt Prag.

War Prag im 18. Jahrhundert eine der musikalischen Hauptstädte Europas, ist es kaum verwunderlich, dass die böhmische Stadt auch die Heimat vieler grossartiger Ensembles ist. Zugleich wurde eine lebendige Opern-Tradition gepflegt. Vom Charme und dem vibrierenden musikalische Leben Prags fühlten sich Mozarts Zeitgenossen nahezu magisch angezogen. Insgesamt mindestens vier Mal besuchte Mozart (1756–1791) die böhmische Metropole, deren Öffentlichkeit den Salzburger Meister zutiefst verehrte. So feierte Mozart mit «Le nozze di Figaro» und «Don Giovanni» ausserordentliche Erfolge, während er «La clemenza di Tito» eigens für die Krönung Kaiser Leopolds II. zum König von Böhmen im Jahre 1791 komponierte. Mozarts Sinfonie Nr. 38 wiederum wurde 1787 in Prag uraufgeführt. Lotet Mozart in diesem wundervollen Werk die Grenzen der Möglichkeiten des Orchesters aus, kreiert er hier zugleich einen veritablen und faszinierenden Tumult von sinfonischer Vorstellungskraft und sprudelnder Kreativität. Und so mag ein ganzes Leben kaum ausreichen, den ungeheuren Reichtum dieses Meisterwerks zu erfassen. Wir sind hocherfreut, mit dem führenden tschechischen Dirigenten Jakub Hrůša und dem Kammerorchester Basel in Klosters eine Besetzung begrüssen zu dürfen, welche die Sinfonie Nr. 38 in ihrer ganzen musikalischen Grösse zur Aufführung bringen wird.  Ein grosses Klavierkonzert ist stets eine Einheit von lyrischer Gelassenheit, Eleganz und Fluss. Das Klavierkonzert Nr. 23 in A-Dur von Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart gilt als eine seiner grössten Schöpfungen überhaupt. In Klosters wird der unter anderem am 15. Tschaikowsky-Wettbewerb in Moskau ausgezeichnete französische Pianist Lucas Debargue dieses herausragende Werk zur Aufführung bringen.

Klosters Music 2021 dedicates the opening concert to the great composer Mozart and his love for the Bohemian city of Prague.

If Prague was one of the musical capitals of Europe in the 18th century, it is hardly surprising that the Bohemian city is also home to many great ensembles. At the same time, a lively opera tradition was maintained. Mozart's contemporaries felt almost magically drawn to the charm and vibrant musical life of Prague. Mozart (1756–1791) visited the Bohemian metropolis at least four times in total, whose public deeply admired the Salzburg master. Mozart celebrated extraordinary successes with “Le nozze di Figaro” and “Don Giovanni”, while he composed “La clemenza di Tito” especially for the coronation of Emperor Leopold II as King of Bohemia in 1791. Mozart's Symphony No. 38 was premiered in Prague in 1787. While Mozart explores the limits of the orchestra's possibilities in this wonderful work, he also creates a veritable and fascinating tumult of symphonic imagination and bubbling creativity. And so a lifetime may hardly be enough to grasp the immense richness of this masterpiece. We are delighted to welcome the leading Czech conductor Jakub Hrůša and the Basel Chamber Orchestra to Klosters, a line-up that will perform Symphony No. 38 in all its musical grandeur. A large piano concerto is always a unity of lyrical serenity, elegance and flow. The Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart is considered one of his greatest creations ever. In Klosters, the French pianist Lucas Debargue, who won awards at the 15th Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow, will perform this outstanding work.
