The program of the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra's summer kick-off concert begins with the work of one of the most famous German composers of the 18th century, Georg Philipp Telemann. The master's name was somewhat overshadowed by the names of his great contemporaries Johann Sebastian Bach and Georg Friedrich Händel - but in his time he was more famous in Germany than both of them. But let's not think of bloody rivalry: Telemann maintained a friendly relationship with both of them. One of the most significant genres of his enormous oeuvre is the suite, of which he composed hundreds: this time the C major suite, known as "Water Music", is heard. However, the exact name would be "Hamburg tides and tides": the composition celebrating the centenary of the founding of the Hamburg Admiralty parades the sea gods and goddesses of mythology in a festive procession on the occasion of the famous event. In the second half of the concert, in contrast to Schubert's somewhat misleading adjective, which abounds in deep musical thoughts, IV. symphony is played. The orchestra's permanent guest conductor, Tibor Bényi from Salzburg, will conduct the evening.
