Galakonzert für die deutsche aids-stiftung
After the festive opera gala for the German AIDS Foundation could not take place last year due to the pandemic, we are pleased to be able to resume this tradition of what is probably the most dazzling benefit event in Berlin's cultural life - albeit in a different form. The gala concert for the German AIDS Foundation will bring together international opera stars for a good cause on November 27, 2021 at the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The glamorous party after the concert cannot take place again this year; However, as every year, the invited artists will delight the audience and present a rousing program moderated by Max Raabe. At the invitation of the artistic director Alard von Rohr, Asmik Grigorian, probably one of the most sought-after sopranos at European opera festivals, who has just shone as Senta in Bayreuth, and Pretty Yende, whose radiant soprano has already been awarded the ECHO Klassik, have announced themselves for the concert . Nicole Car and Etienne Dupuis are a pair of singers who have delighted audiences at the Deutsche Oper Berlin several times, most recently in EUGEN ONEGIN. Jonathan Tetelman was convincing in the much-vaunted streaming premiere of FRANCESCA DA RIMINI in March 2021 alongside Sara Jakubiak and makes a reunion all the more gratifying. And with Alex Esposito there is a bass on stage who, among other things The young conductor Keri-Lynn Wilson, who has already made a name for herself at such renowned opera houses as the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Bavarian State Opera, the Bolshoi Theater and the Vienna State Opera, will conduct the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The German AIDS Foundation uses the proceeds from the gala concert to support projects in Berlin, Germany and South Africa. In Berlin, the German AIDS Foundation supports, among other things, a residential care project on Reichenberger Strasse. Projects for health promotion and health information are subsidized nationwide. In South Africa, the regional cooperation partner HOPE Cape Town advises families on HIV and AIDS. It is primarily aimed at the residents of the townships around Cape Town. "We are very pleased that in 2021 another benefit event for the German AIDS Foundation can take place in the Deutsche Oper Berlin. The gala combines an evening of wonderful music with a good cause. Our foundation urgently needs the proceeds to support future projects. In addition, the gala offers a good platform to once again provide public information about HIV and AIDS. Information is important to protect yourself from HIV and to overcome prejudices,” says Kristel Degener, Executive Chairwoman of the German AIDS Foundation. "I am pleased that we are resuming the tradition of the gala concerts for the benefit of the German AIDS Foundation after last year's break and that the Deutsche Oper Berlin can thus make its contribution to this work, which is still of fundamental importance. And of course I'm grateful for the opportunity to inspire the audience for the richness of the operatic repertoire in a full house - especially since the experience in this case serves a good civil society purpose. Make sure you take advantage of this offer!” (Dietmar Schwarz, Artistic Director Deutsche Oper Berlin)
