With one of the most internationally successful operettas, Emmerich Kálmán's "Gräfin Mariza", Bohemian and Hungarian melodies ring out at the operetta festival in Mörbisch am See. Not far from the Austro-Hungarian border, the artistic director Robert Herzl, in his second year as artistic director, is staging the story of the rich and beautiful countess on the spectacular lake stage, who wants to save herself from her admirers. Without further ado, she invents a fiancé and throws a lavish party to scare off the many annoying cavaliers. Her plan is thwarted by a baron who, of all things, has the same name as the imagined groom and who would also be interested in marriage.
