Blatná Castle Park will resound with Handel's Music to the Royal Fireworks , which will be performed at the same time as the Baroque fireworks, as it premiered in 1749. The program will also include arias from Handel's most famous operas and a selection from the Messiah oratorio. The soloists, choir and orchestra of the South Bohemian Theater Opera perform with their chief conductor David Švec.

 

Georg Friedrich Händel is rightly one of the greatest composers not only of the Baroque period, but of music in general. He composed his magnificent suite called Music for the Royal Fireworks ( HWV 351) on the occasion of the celebrations of the Peace of Caucasus, officially proclaimed in 1749. This late-day composition later became one of his most famous and most played.Great attention was paid to the festivities in London, and in London's Green Park, a structure was built with a stage for musicians and a huge fireworks display of Italian origin with statues of Greek deities and a portrait of the king. In the beautiful castle park in Blatná, there will be a unique opportunity to witness the performance of Handel's suite at the same time as just such period fireworks that could have taken place during the London festivities in the middle of the 18th century. Handel's music is also the subject of the introductory part of the program, which features famous arias from the operas Rinaldo , Xerxes and others, or a selection from the Messiah 's oratorio , HWV 56, including famous choirs. Performed by soloists Karolína Janů (soprano), Markéta Cukrová (mezzo-soprano) and Peter Malý (tenor), the choir and orchestra of the South Bohemian Theater Opera with its chief conductor David Švec.
