Hänsel and Gretel , Humperdinck's most famous opera, features two children who go on a frightening yet wonderful adventure. Here, the stage is transformed into a gingerbread house, and the house itself becomes the place of all our shivers... until happiness is found again.
The company Les Variétés Lyriques offers a very beautiful reinterpretation of Hänsel und Gretel, shortened for young audiences.

Although it is inspired by a Grimm tale and is (also) aimed at children, Hänsel und Gretel is an infinitely delicate score that cannot be reduced to a work. It was Richard Strauss himself who was at the pulpit when the work was premiered, one fine evening in 1893 in Weimar, and another prestigious musician, Gustav Mahler, who performed the revival in Hamburg that year. next.

Once upon a time... two children, Hänsel and Gretel, who sing and dance to try to forget that they are hungry. One day, their mother sends them to look for strawberries in the forest. When night falls, they find themselves lost. They are afraid, they fall asleep. When they wake up, they see a gingerbread house and start snacking on it. Yes, but the witch, who lives in this house, captures them. Will Hänsel and Gretel manage to save themselves?

The director Denis Mignien probes our deep fears which constitute the roots of fairy tales. A funny and cruel witch, a threatening forest, a sandman who makes sleep rain… We tremble, we laugh and we feel our heart beating with Hänsel and Gretel.

Hänsel et Gretel, l’opéra le plus célèbre d’Humperdinck, met en scène deux enfants qui vivent une aventure à la fois effrayante et merveilleuse. Ici, la scène se transforme en maison de pain d’épices, et la maison elle-même devient le lieu de tous nos frissons… jusqu’au bonheur retrouvé.

La compagnie Les Variétés Lyriques propose une très belle relecture de Hänsel und Gretel, raccourcie pour le jeune public.

Bien qu’il soit inspiré d’un conte de Grimm et s’adresse (aussi) aux enfants, Hänsel und Gretel est une partition d’une infinie délicatesse qu’on ne saurait réduire à une œuvrette. C’est d’ailleurs Richard Strauss en personne qui était au pupitre lors de la création de l’ouvrage, un beau soir de 1893 à Weimar, et un autre musicien prestigieux, Gustav Mahler, qui en assura la reprise à Hambourg l’année suivante.

Il était une fois… deux enfants, Hänsel et Gretel, qui chantent et dansent pour essayer d’oublier qu’ils ont faim. Un jour, leur mère les envoie chercher des fraises dans la forêt. À la tombée de la nuit, ils se retrouvent perdus. Ils ont peur, ils s’endorment. Au réveil, ils voient une maison en pain d’épices et commencent à la grignoter. Oui mais la sorcière, qui habite dans cette maison, les capture. Hänsel et Gretel réussiront-ils à se sauver ?

Le metteur en scène Denis Mignien sonde nos peurs profondes qui constituent les racines des contes de fées. Une sorcière drôle et cruelle, une forêt menaçante, un marchand de sable qui fait pleuvoir le sommeil… On tremble, on rit et on sent son cœur battre avec Hänsel et Gretel.
