The protagonist of János Garay's poem The Obsitos is János Háry, whose story Zoltán Kodály wanted to create a kind of anti-folk play. He wanted to portray the legend in his song play because he felt it was truer than the story. From today's perspective, the heroism suggested by the poem is self-delusion, but the idealistic world of the Reformation was suitable for depicting such a fairy world. The significance of the song play, which originally consisted of five adventures and was presented at the Hungarian State Opera House 90 years ago, is that it helps pass on the Hungarian folk song treasure to the younger generation.

Garay János Az obsitos című költeményének főszereplője Háry János, akinek történetéből Kodály Zoltán egyfajta ellen-népszínművet szeretett volna megvalósítani. A legendát akarta daljátékában ábrázolni, mert igazabbnak érezte, mint a történetet. Mai perspektívából nézve a költemény sugallta hősiesség önámítás, viszont a reformkor idealisztikus világa alkalmas volt egy ilyen fajta tündérvilág ábrázolásához. Az eredetlieg öt kalandból álló, 90 évvel ezelőtt a Magyar Állami Operaházban bemutatott daljáték jelentősége, hogy segít a magyar népdalkincset továbbörökíteni a fiatalabb generáció számára.
